When I saw headlines aboutWayForwardworking on something calledDouble Dragon: Neon, my eyes lit up. And then I glanced at the first screenshots. It’s not that this reboot looks bad necessarily, but I was expecting some killer 2D art. I do dig the neon aesthetic, at the very least.
The game is due out on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network this July. WayForward has consistently done solid work with other companies’ intellectual properties and licenses, so we’ll see.

Do classic beat-’em-ups likeDouble Dragoneven hold up in 2012 once you remove the element of nostalgia and aren’t forced to lug around a bunch of quarters? I’m fairly convinced the vast majority of them don’t; you spend an afternoon rushing through them, nod your head, and move on to better things.
