Developer Digital Extremes blew fans away with a slew of announcements and reveals duringTennoCon 2024. One of the most exciting is a surprise new quest that’ll be hitting the game in early August. This quest will give players who are ready and waiting forWarframe: 1999a way to prepare for the upcoming expansion.
The new quest is calledThe Lotus Eatersand is a prologue toWarframe: 1999that will set up the story for those who have already tackled everything through to the end ofWhispers in the Walls. At the time of writing, I don’t have an exact date for the release of this new quest, but Digital Extremes has confirmed that players will meet back up with one of the game’s most iconic characters.

Get up to date so you don’t miss out
Unfortunately, Digital Extremes hasn’t revealed anything Lotus Eatersto help us understand exactly what we’ll be doing. With the character in the key art above bearing a striking resemblance to one you meet very early on in your journey as a Tenno, it seems pretty obvious who we’ll be meeting once more. With that said, Digital Extremes is playing this one extremely close to the chest, so this might also be a red herring to throw us off the scent.
You must have completedWhispers in the Wallsto playThe Lotus Eaters. While that doesn’t mean you need to finish every quest inWarframe, it does mean you must complete the main storyline right up until the end of that storyline. However, this is a good excuse to finish it because it’s a banger. This is core story content, so you’ll need to know everything that’s happened so far to unlock what’s next and make sense of it all.

WhileThe Lotus Eatersisn’t going to be a substantial quest likeWhispers in the Wallswas, it’ll add to the story and get you back into the game, grinding or paying for access to Sevagoth Prime. I was told by Digital Extremes staff at TennoCon 2024 that anyone who isn’t up to date forWarframe: 1999is going to want to be because it’s incredibly special. Consider this prologue quest your excuse to do exactly that.
