Say what you will aboutThe Old Republic. Say that it is an MMO done by a company that has never completed an MMO before. Say thatStar Warshas already proven to fail as an MMO. Hell, say that entering the already over-crowded MMO marketplace right now is utter insanity, especially withWorld of Warcrafttaking up both market- and mind-share.
But listen to this: according to Daniel Erickson, the Lead Writer forThe Old Republic, there is going to be a distinctly BioWare feel to the game. If you read mypreview, you will know that certain BioWare traits, such as Companions and chat trees, will be making an appearance. Even more exciting, there will be full voice-over for all eight of the character class plot lines. That means, arguably, there is voice over of a whole bundle of BioWare games included inThe Old Republic.

“We believe this the largest voice over production in entertainment history,” Erickson says. “More than a full years worth of voice-over recording time.”
That means more voice over for any other videogame, film, or TV show in the history of entertainment. The budget alone for audio work onThe Old Republicis larger than most videogames. Day-um. Kinda makes you want to stand up and pay a little bit more attention to this, huh?
