Warner Bros.’ big-screen adaptation ofMinecraftis scheduled for July 16, 2025.
“Yes, that might seem like a long time away, but it just so happens to be the right amount of time to make it completely awesome,”wrotedeveloper Mojang in a blog post today. “And we all want an awesomeMinecraftmovie, right?”
That distant date helps explain why we know so little about the project other than thatIt’s Always Sunny‘s Rob McElhenney isdirecting. Love that guy, and I hope he has room to get weird with it.
I can’t possibly form an opinion about the movie yet (what will it evenbe?), but if it’s identifiable as something he had a hand in, I might be interested in seeing it. Just not in a theater. Sorry, kids, but you’re able to be insufferable audience members and, uh, you prooobably shouldn’t be reading this site.
