TheFinal Fantasy XIVx Gong cha collaboration eventkicked off on July 17, andFFXIVplayers have flocked to Gong cha sites around the world. However, not all of those purchasing the special new menu items have good intentions.

To get your hands on the Porxie King mount, all you need to do is purchase three tea drinks in a single transaction. These three drinks will probably cost a total of around $20 USD, and you then get the choice between a card with a code on (it which will give you the mount), or one of three keychains.

However, the scalpers have emerged from the shadows to make a quick buck, and these cards and keychains are now selling oneBayfor huge profits. If you head to eBay, you can find listings for the mount code ranging from $40 USD to a truly incredible $350 USD.

The keychains, on the other hand, are selling for upwards of $75 USDeach.Including this one, featuring a very cute Fat Choco, which this particular seller has listed for a ridiculous $150 USD. On the plus side, it has dropped from the original $250 USD price it was listed for 24 hours earlier.

It would be one thing if these items were going unsold, but people areactually buyingthe codes and promo items, presumably because they lack the ability to get to a Gong cha themselves.

What’s worse is that it’s unclear whether these codes have been obtained through valid purchases. Some of the featured images on the eBay listings contain a multitude of code cards, which would have necessitated a purchase of a ridiculous number of drinks in order to get them officially.

As you may see, this seller has sold 14 of their 15 cards already. To get that many cards, the seller would have had to purchase 45 drinks in the space of two days. That’s a lot of tea, and a hell of a lot of profit.
