‘We’re working on other things’

Supermassive Games isinto the ideaof anotherUntil Dawn, and I am too. It’s easy to imagine how the formula could be applied to a different setting, story, and characters to form a horror anthology series.

But I’ve got to cut that daydreaming short — if we ever get a follow-up, it’s unlikely to happen anytime soon. The studio is busy with its PlayStation VR projectsTumble VRandUntil Dawn: Rush of Blood.

Speaking toGamesIndustry.bizabout the future of the studio, managing director Pete Samuels said “There’s a lot of speculation about what we’re doing and what we’re working on right now. We’re not working onUntil Dawn 2at the moment. We’re working on other things.” (Which is admittedly to be expected, as far as public-facing remarks about potential sequels go.)

Samuels alsoreiteratedthe studio’s “great relationship” with Sony Computer Entertainment, who publishedUntil Dawn, noting, “We want to continue to work with Sony, and we are continuing to work with Sony on lots of things. There’s no concern or resentment or any bad feeling. They’re a really important publisher for us, and I hope and expect that they’ll continue to be that.”

I’d personally love to see Supermassive branch out to all consoles and PC with another horror title (you can never have too many of ’em!), but really, I’m just keen to see what its next “narrative-driven” game will be regardless of genre.
