Ubisoft’sSkull and Bonesisn’t without multiple currencies to ponder over. You have your silver, used for just about anything. But there are other currencies to manage such as Pieces of Eight, coins you earn inSkull and Bonesto spend on rare goodies — but how do you get them?

You can earn Pieces of Eight inSkull and Bonesin several ways, but mostly it’ll be by finishing orders forthe Helm. The Helm is a separate entity inSkull and Bones, offering ways to earn Pieces of Eight to spend on gear powerful enough to get you through the endgame.

How to get Pieces of Eight inSkull and Bones: The Helm orders

The Helm unlocks once youfinish enough questsfor John Scurlock. Check for the mysterious letter called ‘An Invitation’. Reading it starts the ‘A Covert Initiation’ quest, introducing you to the Helm’s smuggling operation.

The Helm is where you run illicit goods around the world for a fee of Pieces of Eight. you may ship White Skull Rum or opium, either way, it earns you the precious pieces. These aren’t easy runs to make, mind. You have to ship the goods across open water without the use of fast travel, and all the while you’re being hunted by Rogues.

But if you complete your order, you earn some Pieces of Eight to spend on upgrades for your smuggling network or unique gear and cosmetics at the two Helm hideouts located at Saint-Anne and Telok Penjarah. You’ll need to save up a lot, as items can cost 500 Pieces of Eight or a lot more. But it appears that the store contains some of the most powerful guns and armor in the game, so it’s likely worth the effort.

Completing Ubisoft Connect community challenges

Another way to get Pieces of Eight is by completingSkull and Bonescommunity challenges. By finishing objectives,Skull and Bonesplayers will be able to claim rewards via Ubisoft Connect. So far, I’ve receivedtwo entirePieces of Eight. Steady on, lads.

For the most part, finishing orders for the Helm will be your best option to gather more Pieces of Eight. Doing so will be important in the long run, as it seems Ubisoft included smuggling as a way to fuel your pirate empire during the endgame. It’s doubtful you’ll find better equipment anywhere else.
