‘Just around the corner’
In a weird twist, Niantic is adding a cool feature toPokemon Gothat will probably get a fair few folks interested again.
It’s called the “Buddy Pokemon” mechanic, and allows you to pick your favorite creature to appear alongside your character on the UI (but not walking around in-game like Pokemon Yellow yet, sadly). It’s not just for show though as it will award you candy just for walking, and you can switch them up whenever.
As long as the candy increase is substantial this could be a really great way for rural players to rank up their creatures. At present it’s impossible to find candies for a rare Pokemon you’ve only seen once ever, but if you now walk with them, you can in theory eventually evolve them.
I’m waiting for Niantic to somehow screw this up but for now I’m hopeful.
