Perpetual Entertainment, the people behind the (formerly) upcomingGods and Heroesand (still upcoming)Star Trek Onlinehave apparently shifted the focus of their efforts entirely towards the Roddenberry universe. According tothis updateon theG&Hhome page:
… Recently, we took a step back to evaluate the competitive landscape, the game’s current state, and the overall goals for our organization. And while we are truly proud of and pleased with what we have created inGods & Heroes, we also realize that achieving the level of quality and polish that we are committed to will take a significant investment.

… Moving forward, we’re shifting our collective focus, resources and development efforts to Perpetual’s Platform Services division andStar Trek Online, thereby ensuring that the game lives up to the high level of expectation set by the dedicated Star Trek fan base.
Obviously this isn’t a huge shock after Perpetual’s recent “restructuring” that shed 30-40 employees, but from what we’ve seen of the game, it is sort of surprising that they’d axe it after all the effort already in place. Then again, there’s a school of thought that thinks the MMO space is rapidly approaching over-saturation, and taking on the development of two of these massive games at once would tax any company, let alone one not literally made of gold ingots and origami hundred dollar bills shaped into friendly, helpful swans.
