His hair is made of little faces

So wrong, yet so right Perhaps I get more joy out of bizarre glitches than most. I probably do. But I felt obligated to share what has got to be one of the more entertaining texture mess-ups out there and couldn’t turn down the opportunity to write the sentence “His hair is made of little faces.” Not going for it would’ve been a regret for the death bed if I’ve ever had one....

It would absolutely crush me if this franchise became smartphone exclusive

Don’t take my precious I often wonder if the glint in the eye of game developers grows dim when their publisher announces it wants the next entry of their franchise to go mobile. For many developers, far more than I have enough time to gush over, the mobile marketplace is an opportunity for experimentation and creating small games that use the platform to its fullest. For financially successful developers, those with marketing budgets large enough to snare Super Bowl ads, the mobile marketplace is an opportunity to take franchises people love, slap some skinner boxes in them, and then send them out into the App Store sea to hunt whales like digital Captain Ahabs....

Little Nightmares looks messed up in all the right ways

Escape The Maw RememberHunger? Maybe not its name (those one-word titles sure have a habit of slipping out of mind for me), but the unnerving, surreal, not-quite-right world should seem vaguely familiar. Bandai Namco has opted to publish the Tarsier Studios-developed game, and now it’s calledLittle Nightmares. The full re-reveal is set for next week’s gamescom, so details aside from this trailer and the old one (included below!) are fairly light, but it sounds like the premise is unchanged: you’re helping a young girl get off a floating vessel and far away from “corrupted souls looking for their next meal....

Mobile & console gaming as different as cheap & fine wine

Sony’s Jack Trenton aerates his opinion I’m just going to let this little quote fromSony Computer Entertainment of America president and CEOJack Trenton, regarding his thoughts about what he calls“good-enough gaming,”breathe like a fine bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon recently poured into a decanter. “It’s like wine. Your first wine tastes good, and you start drinking more of it. You go from white to red, and you go from $10 bottles to $50 bottles....

It will be available on PS4/PS5, Switch, and PC on May 27, 2025. Also Xbox One and Series X|S, I think, but the press release formats it weirdly.
