It’s Mario vs. Pokemon Trainer with a claymation twist

Presented in Gameboy Camera-vision It’s the Gameboy’s 25th birthday this year! I never liked that thing. The fact that it beat out a quality piece of hardware like the Atari Lynx used to really bother me… when I was 13. Since then I’ve learned to not worry about that kind of stuff too much. Life is to short for fruitless conflicts. Case in point — this fight between Mario and Pokemon Trainer....

Kingdom Hearts 3D translates well from portable to console

It’s pretty much the same, minus AR cards This week I put a preview build ofKingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologueto the test, and so far, I’m happy with how well at least one of the three games that comprises this compilation has translated —Kingdom Hearts 3D, or,Dream Drop Distance— one of the least silly bits of nomenclature in a franchise that likes to put fractions in their titles. It’s a four year old portable game, sure, but it looked colorful then on the 3DS, and it looks great now when blown up on a TV in 1080p at 60FPS (a framerate that’s smooth, by the way)....

Licking and sucking are just two ways you’ll control games at GDC 2016

Crazy alternative control schemes! The games lineup for GDC 2016’s Alt.Ctrl.GDC showcase has been announced, and the control schemes sound crazy as heck, if not tasty. Hello, Operator!has players acting as a telephone switchboard operator in the 1930s by physically connecting calls with patch cables. If there is any voice acting, I hope it is old-timey. I love the dialect of that era. If playing operator isn’t your bag and you just want to cuddle up with a good book,Little Bookmight be for you....

Lisa is a men-only apocalyptic horror comedy 2D RPG

Like Earthbound but with platforming, cannibals, and perverts [Note: Footage is pre-alpha. Also, looks likeI might be in the game now, so that’s fun.] Not long ago, we heard thatThe Last of Uswas plannedto take place in an apocalypse where nearly every woman on the planet had become an infected, murderous monster. The developers of the game rejected the idea because it was “misogynistic,” but many in the comments were interested in the concept....

Man who played Lineage II for 20,000 hours sues creators

A man who has been playingLineage IIfor over 20,000 hours has decided to sue developer NCSoft for getting him addicted to the game. Craig Smallwood of Hawaii claims that the game prevented him from living a normal life, and this is just so pathetic I think my eyes are going to melt. The suit alleges that Smallwood was “unable to function independently in usual daily activities such as getting up, getting dressed, bathing or communicating with family and friends....

Mass Effect: Andromeda’s multiplayer will receive all maps for free

Different colors and all Mass Effect 3may have been a disappointing end to the alien dating trilogy, but BioWare handled the multiplayer component with a bit of grace. That trend is going to continue in the upcomingAndromedaas confirmedby BioWare’s general manager, Aaryn Flynn. Overwatch’s long haul approach is fantastic: Director hints at map editor

‘Extremely open-minded’ As they’ve proven over the course of the past few decades on PC, Blizzard supports their games long term — whether it’s by way of more content, or justcompatibility patches. I fully expectOverwatchto be around for a long time, and to see it grow this much in less than a year has been a treat. In addition to the arcade, CTF, several new characters, a server browser, and new levels, director Jeff Kaplan has mused on some other potential ideas to expand the game in the future....
