Sup Holmes?: Punch some butts with Skullgirls’s Mike Z

The idea of punching a guy in the butt has always made me smile. Why not kick them in the balls instead? To make the effort to get down there and punch that butt would be such a weird decision, especially in a high stakes battle of life and death. InSkullgirls, punching people in the butt makes a little more sense, because there are no balls in the game to speak of (yet)....

The Question: is Metal Gear Solid 5 necessary?

[Every Friday, Destructoid will pose topical a question to the community. Answer it if you want!] Last night,we heard that— perhaps unsurprisingly —Metal Gear Solid 5is on the cards. Not long after the news dropped, I was asked by several people whether I felt the sequel was necessary and I figured I’d send the question along to you lot. Metal Gear Solid 4wrapped up a lot of plot threads, while leaving several doors open....

Things that are less expensive than the HTC Vive

A grim accounting With the current exchange rate, the $799 Vivewill cost roughly $1099 in Canadian dollars where I live (not counting taxes and any extra charges). That’s a whole lot of cash. While I’m as excited as anyone else at the idea of stumbling around my living room and tripping over the coffee table while slaying demons or shooting space marines, that kind of expense gives me pause. When I start to think of all the things in my life that cost less than first-generation VR, it paints a very grim picture....

Titanfall’s minimum PC specs are totally doable

I want to build a shrine to the 8800GT Respawn Entertainment co-founder Vince Zampellahas sharedthe minimum system requirements forTitanfallon PC and they’re quite low, at least to my eyes: It’s really just the 64-bit requirement, then. But we’ve had years and years to get ready for that. It’ll be much more interesting to see where the recommended specs end up forTitanfall— I’m expecting those to fall toward the lower end as well....

Ubisoft claims to have ‘learned a lesson,’ will not be rushing sequels

Ubisoft has been doing pretty well for themselves lately. With massive sales ofAssassin’s Creedlast year leading the charge to a doubling of yearly earnings and the recent reboot ofPrince of Persiaearning high praise from critics, you would think that they’d be moving quickly to capitalize on their success. Not so, says Laurent Detoc, president of Ubisoft North America, in a recent conversation withForbes. After making the observation that the two sequels to the last-gen blockbusterPrince of Persia: Sands of Timefailed to produce similar sales numbers, the developer has come to the realization that churning out a sequel to a successful franchise every year might not be the best strategy....

Want to watch a 12-minute Guilty Gear Xrd trailer?

Of course you do For some games that have elaborate stories or lots of spoiler points, I tend to avoid any and all coverage if possible. I like going in completely blind, like the bosses of theSoulsseries for example. For oher titles, I like saturating everything I can beforehand; I remember my excitement forDevil May Cry 4was so great that I watched the same one-minute gameplay clip on my PC at least 100 times....

‘Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch is coming to Stadia’ is one of the weirdest headlines I’ve written all year

It’s still ‘coming soon’ just like the other versions So, Stadia announced a bunch of games today that are coming to the platform as part of the “Stadia Makers” program, and one caught my eye. Snoochie boochies! The dynamic duo of Jay and Silent Bob are back in beat ’em up form, withJay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch. So as I intimated in the header,Chronic Blunt Punchhas been around for a while: it’s not a brand new Stadia exclusive thing....
