Here it is, folks: theResident Evil 5trailer to end allResident Evil 5trailers. For the first time, the game’s story is really hit hard, which means there are sizable spoilers involved. In fact, the video is almost like a mini plot summary, as narrated by the always badass Albert Wesker. If you don’t mind seeing a few ofRE5‘s later areas, a couple of bosses, and some characters that haven’t been shown heavily until now, I strongly advise you to hit the jump for the trailer....

Need For Speed Most Wanted launch trailer is electric

I AM ELECTRIC! I AM ELECTRIC! I’ve been playingNeed for Speed Most Wantedfor quite awhile now, in both preview form and now with final code for our upcoming review. The Embargo Gods prevent me from saying much before then, but I’ll sneak this out:it’s f*cking fun. Even though I’ve been playing for some time now, I didn’t hear the song in the above trailer until a couple of days ago. I blamed the song’s chorus for losing a race yesterday....

New Hot Shots game is trash…promoted

That’s not to say that the newHot Shotsgame is trash, though that’s what you’ll find it hanging around. Minna no Sukkurimeans “Everyone’s Refresh.” Yeah. It’s a new PSP game from the Hot Shots people. I toyed with the minigame collection on the Tokyo Game Show floor for a few minutes, made that fake smile, shifted my eyes to the left, and then went off to another game. They should have stopped with Golf, but now they’ve got some trash truck running around Japan promoting their game....

Nintendo Switch continues to dominate in Europe, Xbox Series X/S is second place in March

332,000 sold in Europe in March 2022 Switch Europe sales continue to predictably crush it, as 332,000 consoles were sold in Europe alone in March 2022, even without the UK or Germany included (via GSD data from GamesIndustry.biz). While the Switch has been enjoying a huge amount of success worldwide due to increased stock compared to its competitors (this is on top ofstrong software sales for Nintendo); interestingly, the Xbox brand is managing to make some sort of a dent in the midst of Sony’s stock woes....

Our favorite new characters of 2012

Meet 2012’s BFFs What makes a great videogame character is not what makes a great character in film and literature. It’s been a long learning process for developers, but videogames have become increasingly nuanced and impactful in storytelling and characters are a part of that. That same sort of progression also applies to the types of characters we’ve seen this year: Characters of color, intelligent children, a gay character that avoids stereotypes, and female leads that don’t make us grimace....

Pathfinder: Kingmaker has me thinking I should start playing tabletop games

Hands-on with the CRPG I wanted to start this piece with lede touching on how Chris Avellone is a titan of western game development, a man who has put out hit after hit to resounding success and acclaim. As I wrote that droning introduction I realized it was all a big lie. Not the part about him being a success but that I knew who he was. Sure, since I started writing about games I’d heard the name but I never took it the further step to actually see who the man is....

No sense dragon your business partner There has been a near-unanimous refrain followingMicrosoft’s cancelation of Platinum’sScaleboundback in 2017: How could Xbox, a platform that’s light on first-party exclusives, shut down the most promising game in its pipeline?
