Nintendo is ‘in a world of trouble’

Industry analyst Michael “Panther’s Desire” Pachter has something critical to say of Nintendo, because it is a weekday. This time, the sensual magnet was chatting toABC News, suggesting the Wii U has very little to offer and Nintendo is in big trouble.

“I think Nintendo is at the bottom of a huge mountain, with a huge uphill climb,” he said at one point during the interview, recorded during E3.

“With PS4 just $50 more than a Wii U, I mean, why would anyone buy a Wii U unless they have to play Nintendo games?”

“Publishers are really excited about supporting Xbox One and PS4, but they didn’t really say anything about the Wii U. We know EA has no games in development for Wii U. If others follow suit —if you see Activision pull support, if you see Ubisoft, you see Take-Two pull support — the Wii U becomes a Nintendo-only gaming device, which is the way they were with the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985.”

Pachter said Nintendo is going to need those big name third party titles if it has a hope of remaining significant in the home console space. He also reiterated his belief that Nintendo left the launch of the Wii U far too long.

“They are not going to sell a lot of consoles if they don’t have games likeFIFAandBattlefieldandCall of DutyandGrand Theft Auto.

“Nintendo waited two years too long to launch a competitive console, a high definition console, with the PS3 and Xbox 360. I think by the time they launched the console, which stacks up really well, the other two guys passed them by, they’re in a world of trouble right now.”

And that’s something Michael Pachter said about Nintendo. Have fun, kittens.
