Last weekwe reportedthat UK businesses were looking to usePlayStation Homeas a potential virtual office space. The consultancy that is spearheading the initiative happens to deal with Microsoft, and a number of blogs that weren’t us decided to report that Microsoft would now be usingHome, getting it all wrong.
It’s not often that I, ofallpeople, get to be smug about fact checking and being right, but this timeIcome out on top. Microsoft hasdismissed reportsfrom various sites trying to claim that it would be using the PlayStation Network service, making sure to blow its own trumpet in the process.
“With fantastic Microsoft-developed products and applications like Live Meeting and even Xbox Live Party, we have everything we need to host a virtual meeting in-house,” claimed the company.
Quite how these reports came about were beyond me. You could tell even from a glance that Microsoft wouldn’t be seen dead usingHome, and the original report on the matter gave no indication that Microsoft would be affiliated with the project, outside of dealing with the company that was doing the research.
For these few short minutes, I can pretend to be a proper journalist, and not the hack blogger I most assuredly am.
