Yes, I’m with you. It’s not a ‘console’ or anything even close to that. It’s a phone in my mind. A phone that I use for music and Twitter. A portable sometimes gaming machine at best. The games? Sure, there’s some that I really like. But I’m usually out to play games on a game system, with buttons and such.

Still, it’s hard to discount the power of the new Jesus Phone. According to Apple, the iPhone 4 hit 1.7 million units worldwide in its first three days of availability. That beats out even the Nintendo DS as far as launch figures goes. If you did look at the iDevice platform as a game system, you’d have to say that the iPhone 4 is the fastest selling gaming device of all time.

If you look at the numbers now, there are 51 million of the iPhone/iPod Touch devices out there. Add in that it has been predicted that 36 million iPhones would sell this year. Compare this to the lifetime sales of Microsoft’s Xbox 360, which now sits at about 40 million.
