Destiny 2’sCrota’s End Raid, and Season 22 as a whole, has been an oasis amidst a dry spell within the franchise. Aftera disastrous State of the Gameand thereveal of The Final Shape expansion proved successive fumbles,Destiny 2could use a win. To that end, Guardians have been flocking back to the game totake on the reprised Raidand lay the son of Oryx to rest. Along the way, players will likely stumble into the Quest that rewards the Necrochasm Exotic auto rifle. While finding the Exotic Quest is guaranteed after defeating Crota, players will need to spend some time hunting for Essence of the Oversoul before Necrochasm and its catalyst are ready to use.
Players must firstdefeat Crota, grab the “Bottomless Pit” Quest from his sword, and complete the first few steps. The beginning of the Quest tasks players with eliminating Hive while using the Husk of the Pit auto rifle. When that’s complete, the auto rifle transforms intothe Eidolon Ally. Guardians will then be asked for Essence of the Oversoul. While a few methods promise this resource, it could take some time before players have enough to complete their Quest. And they’ll need even more to complete the Necrochasm’s catalyst later.
Where to find Essence of the Oversoul
Essence of the Oversoul is a resource that’s unique to the Crota’s End Raid. It can only be acquired through encounter completions or specific Raid triumphs.Bungie has confirmedthat completing Crota’s End will drop at least one Essence per account per week. But beyond that, they’re a little tougher to come by. Players haven’t exactly figured out the drop rate for Essence of the Oversoul, but Guardians are starting to estimate that it’s not too high.
Some Guardians have reported as little as a meager three Essence after over 20 encounter completions. Thankfully, it can be farmed by repeatedly completing any encounter or the whole Raid. Guardians will just have to hope RNG is on their side.
Crota’s End Triumphs that reward Essence of the Oversoul
How much Essence of the Oversoul do players need?
While the final part of the “Bottomless Pit” Quest demands 20 Essence of the Oversoul to obtain the Necrochasm initially, players won’t be done there. If Guardians want to juice up the Exotic auto rifle, they’ll be after its catalyst soon after earning the weapon. Players can earn the Necrochasm’s catalyst by locating and completing two timed trials within the Raid. However, more Essence of the Oversoul is required to start using the catalyst.
Guardians will need to pony up another 15 Essence before the catalyst for Necrochasm is fully ready to use. That means, in total, players will need 35 Essence of the Oversoul before they can consider their hunt done. Though this might take players some time to achieve, at least the weapon and its catalyst’s acquisition can be easily followed.
