Ghost of Tsushimahas a Director’s Cut on the way, but it’s not just the single-player side getting an update.Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, the samurai game’s multiplayer component, is also getting some updates, including a standalone release.
Ghost of Tsushima: Legendswent live back in October, after the launch ofGhost of Tsushima, adding a co-op multiplayer mode to the game. It turnedout to be a bit of a hit, or at least a draw for people even if they didn’t like the single-player side ofGhost of Tsushima.
Today, Sony and Sucker Punch announced thatGhost of Tsushima: Legendswill be getting its own standalone release, separate from Jin Sakai’s adventure. The standaloneLegendswill be available on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 for $19.99, and with the exception of some cosmetics that can only be unlocked through single-player, it will be the same version of the game thatGhost of Tsushimaowners will have.
Legendsstandalone buyers will be able to upgrade to the Director’s Cut ofGhost of Tsushimalater on as well, for a price of $40 for the PS4 version or $50 for the PS5 version. The standalone versionwill launch on Sept. 3, alongside the new Rivals mode.
Rivals is the new competitive mode, where two teams compete to defeat waves of enemies and collect Magatama to spend on harming the other team. It’s a little like the oldWarcraft IIIcustom maps, where two teams compete in PvE fights while also sending hazards and challenges to the other team, trying to be the last one standing.
There will also be a new Gear Mastery system, requested features from theLegendscommunity that will start rolling out on Aug. 20, and weekly content from Sept. 10 through Oct. 1. This includes a new Rivals map, Survival maps inspired by theIki Island expansion, and the Trials of Iyo. Check out thePlayStation blog posted todayfor more details.
Between the expansion and the newLegendscontent, there’s a lot ofGhost of Tsushimain store for the future. TheLegendscontent will start rolling out over the coming weeks leading up to the Sept. 3 date, whileGhost of Tsushima Director’s Cutarrives on Jul 19, 2025.
