Bungie is partnering with Lucasfilm to bringDestiny 2players a uniquelyStar Wars-inspired experience this December with the upcomingRenegadesexpansion. While the studio was ready to show off just a teaser of what players could expect, the news is like a dream come true for some fans.
Believe it or not, this isn’t the first timeDestiny 2andStar Warshave intersected. In February 2025, Bungie made a set ofStar Wars-themed cosmetics available through the Eververse Store. No one would have guessed that this would be a precursor to an entire expansion taking heavy inspiration, and even lightsabers, from the iconic franchise. Be that as it may, players who want to scratch a first-person shooterStar Warsitch may soon be looking toDestiny 2.

During the reveal for July’sThe Edge of Fateexpansion, Bungie held out to show viewers “one more thing” at the end of the showcase. This was just the smallest glimpse at a teaser forRenegades, but it was enough.

The 37-second clip shows three Guardians emerge from a sealed chamber of a starship or space station. A klaxon roars overhead as the three pull out their weapons, two with pistol blasters and one with a green lightsaber. Afterwards, the teaser cuts to a mountainous and sandy planet with a settlement off in the distance. Three Guardians race towards it on their Sparrows as theRenegadestitle appears.
TheRenegadesexpansion is due out on December 2, with a more complete look coming during a planned showcase on September 9. So far, reception to the news has generally appeared positive, which admittedly, is goodwill Bungie could use right now. On X,@MrchingKnght28, generally sums the vibe up, saying, “NO FREAKING WAY.”

If players choose to pre-order the ultimate edition of the Year of Prophecy, which includes theRenegadesexpansion, they’ll get immediate access to three unique cosmetics (one for each class). Sticking with theStar Warstheme, Warlocks get Kylo Ren, Titans get Darth Vader, and Hunters get General Grievous. Guardians will also get a bonus treat in the form of access to the New Land Beyond Exotic sniper rifle.
