I tried to think of a Live and Learn pun

Jeez, it’s already been almost five years since the greatSonic Generationswas released to celebrate the Blue Blur’s 20thanniversary. With the series’ 25thbirthday rapidly approaching later this year, people have been wondering as to how Sega is planning on celebrating it.

Well according to musician Johnny Gioeli, a member of prolificSonicmusical contributor Crush 40, we might be seeing a new special game launch this year. In a now-deleted Facebook postcaught by TSSZ, Gioeli teased that Crush 40 is working on new songs for an “anniversary game:”

Q: When will there be news about the Crush 40 album?

A: We are planning a few performances for 2016 to commemorate the anniversary of Sonic. We ‘might’ participate in writing new songs for the anniversary game…stay tuned…

As the post is now deleted, it’s a good sign that what he was saying is indeed true.

Of course, we currently have no idea as to what form this new project will take. However, I have a bad feeling it’s just going to be a special edition of free-to-play mobile gameSonic Dashor something as equally anticlimactic. Sonic Generationshad an extensive publicity campaign before its release, so us not yet hearing anything about this new game makes me think Sega aren’t planning to do as much as they did back then.

Either way, I’m interested to see what Sega has planned. I’ve always been a huge fan ofSonic, but even I have to admit the last few years haven’t been great.Having a new, decent game would be a really nice way to celebrateSonicbeing around for a quarter of a century.

At least we know that the music will be great if Crush 40 is involved. Even if you don’t know the band, chances are you recognize some of their more popularSonicsongs, such asLive and Learn,What I’m Made OfandSonic Heroes.
