Yesterday, news of an appthat claimed to “cure” people of homosexuality enraged a fair few people, both in and out of the LGBT community. Responding to overwhelming consumer protest, Apple has decided to pull the app from the store.

The app was produced by Exodus International, one of those moronic ministries that have somehow concluded homosexuality is a lifestyle choice because they read vague passages of an old book once. Apple — quick to pull anything that dares to be sexy or feature political humor — approved the app, which damaged its reputation as a gay-friendly company.

Theonline petitiongained 152,433 signatures, and there was plenty of coverage on game and tech sites that cover such mobile shenanigans. So, Exodus International can shove their app up their arse … oh wait, that’s probably the last thing they’d do.

Despite my abhorrence at the app and its homophobic bullshit, I grudgingly respect its right to exist. That Apple decided to back up on its hypocrisy and declined to give Exodus an outlet on its store, however, is something I can cheerfully support.
