Because who doesn’t love pay to win?

Obviously, 2K loves money. I mean, they’re a company, so that’s what their primary function should be, right? Well, with video games it can be a little tricky. You can love money, but at the same, you still have to respect what made you what you are and remember who pays your bills.

Withthe discoverythat 2K has another mobile app that coincides with a console game and its progress, 2K is clearly showing us that they are testing a market in which they can use the popularity of mobile apps and their freemium-style gameplay to make a little extra scratch on the side.

2K already hadMyNBA2K15that does something very similar to what their newEvolve: Hunters Quest(on bothiTunesandAndroid) does: What you do in the app directly affects your game.

InMyNBA2K15, you can earn VC forNBA2K15. There are restrictions to the amount of VC you can earn and because of this and because you essentially don’t need to have skill or aren’t required to pay for in-app currency or cards to earn VC, it’s really not a pay-to-win kind of thing.

Evolve: Hunters Questis looking to mix things up a bit. In this companion app, you will be able to earn experience that translates directly to your character in the game. The difference between this and its NBA counterpart, however, seems to be thatEvolve: Hunters Questactually supports the purchase of in-game credits to push you along at a faster pace, if you wanted to.

Now, this really isn’t pay to win in the traditional sense. It’s more what I would call pay-to-win lite. However, it’s something we should probably keep our eye on. As we’ve seen with DLC over the years, these things have a tendency toEvolve.
